In August I decided to venture away from the familiar comforts of home to pursue a degree that promised to be ‘different’. With an acceptance letter from Symbiosis Noida, just a stone’s throw away, the choice to shift to Pune for the UG-MED program was not without its doubts and uncertainties. However, I was drawn to the unknown, the potential for growth and discovery that lay beyond my comfort zone.
Settling into my new surroundings was a whirlwind of emotions – uncertainty, confusion, frustration, and the overwhelming task of acclimating to a new and different lifestyle. Yet, amidst the chaos, there was a sense of adventure, a thrill in embracing the unfamiliarity and carving out my own path in this new city.
Five months into my journey, another pivotal decision awaited me – the choice to shift from the comfort of my grandparents’ house to the solitude of my own apartment. The initial weeks were far from easy, as I grappled with the unfamiliarity of living alone and managing a house. Yet, with each passing day, I found solace in the solitude and started enjoying the newfound independence that came with it.
It was during one of the challenging projects this year that the significance of these decisions truly crystallized. It was a project where most of the students had decided to quit because we thought it was ‘unachievable’ at that point. But something wasn’t sitting right with me about quitting this project and thankfully a friend of mine, Angad also felt the same way. And so within a 30-minute lunch break after officially quitting the project, we restarted it with the same level of uncertainty, if not more. After days of working hard and testing our limits, we finally completed the project. Not only did we achieve our goals that were set, but I got to learn a lot from it as well.
And then there was REGEN: It was my first major event at enterprise, and I’ll admit, I was nervous as heck. But the work I had done and the growth I’ve witnessed made me push through, and I stepped out of my comfort zone and embraced the opportunity to network with industry experts. It turned out to be one of the most memorable nights of the year and something that will stay with me for a long time going ahead.
Reflecting on these events, I’m reminded of the popular Nike tagline: “Just Do It” (Hence the name of the blog), which is similar to enterprise’s slogan “#Karo”. What these mean to me is to aggressively take action on the things that you want to excel in, and the things that matter to you, regardless of the ‘consequences’.
It’s safe to say I’m getting addicted to the incredible power and confidence I gain every time I put in a ton of energy and effort into things that matter to me. Each challenge I have faced, from moving away from home to tackling tough projects, have served as a powerful reminder of the rewards that come from pushing myself beyond my limits.
Now, I find myself more conscious than ever of applying this mindset to every aspect of my life. Whether it’s in my studies, my relationships, or my personal growth journey, I’m learning to approach each opportunity with the same level of dedication and determination. In short, I’m gonna Just Do It, And you should too!
