Excitement is something we all feel. It is usually considered a good, happy emotion. While we can always feel happy, excitement is about that one push that can change the way we tackle our problems. Here are some incidents from my life where hurdles were later converted into excitement.
We all usually learn to save money from a very young age with the help of a savings box. My first savings box was bought by my mother, and she asked me to save money in it whenever I felt like spending. As a child, it was exciting, fun, and challenging for me to do so. Every time I felt like buying chocolate or a silly toy, I controlled myself from spending. This small push eventually got me a new cricket bat from my own money. As I look back, these small pushes seem like nothing now, but they were difficult back then. After a few pushes, playing with a self-owned bat felt amazing—it hit hard and was different.
This reminds me of starting an NGO after my Class 10th, where we distributed excess food to the needy. Both experiences taught me the value of persistence and the joy of making a difference. People say frustration has become really common, but I don’t feel the same way. I get along, let go of things, and believe in giving my 100% to what I believe in.
Pushing through even once always helps, even for the smallest things like folding your clothes or going to the gym. Every push you give yourself, especially when you don’t feel like it, gets you a step closer to success. Once we achieve this, it gives us a sense of accomplishment. The feeling is far more rewarding than the effort poured in.
#Karo is a flagship event at Let’s Enterprise that focuses on hands-on learning and is organized by student partners. The work demanded effort and resilience. At times, I felt frustrated, but there were also moments of motivation and satisfaction. During moments of frustration, I realize how important support is to push us through and help us give our best. In the end, all of it felt more than worth it because of the satisfaction I got after the event once it was successful.
This habit helps us in the long run. For example, when I lived with my parents, they always asked me to do small chores around the house. These small tasks helped me when I moved to Pune to live alone. Whether it was cooking or fixing a lock or window, these skills saved me a lot of money and made me feel independent. The small pushes I gave myself, along with the ones my parents encouraged, help me now.
That moment when you get the work done is the most important because it makes you a person who can control his or her emotions.
I would love to maintain this mindset of embracing small pushes in life, and I look forward to growing with it.
